Windowbox Contest 2012 – Window Boxes on a Wall

Garden Shed Glory

I just love planting the Ventian Decora window boxes I purchased from Hooks & Lattice each year! They add such color and charm to my garden shed and draw oooh’s and ahhhh’s from family and friends who visit!

PVC Window Boxes

The window boxes are 36″ Del Sol fiberglass. I purchased them online at Hooks & Lattice. After moving into our new home we removed the old rotting wooden boxes and did some research to find the ones that best suited our needs. With the help of Hooks & Lattice we decided on these because they were attractive, low maintenance, easy to clean and easy to install and remove when needed. They were purchased in April of 2008 and as you can see, they still look great.

The Underappreciated Potential of Gardening Space

We had good friends from Michigan out this weekend and they asked if we had any of our window boxes on our house. Unfortunately, the only one we could show them was this six year old Prototype of our Fiberglass La Fleur window box. The next morning on July 1st, we received our 2012 Window Box contest email and we were inspired to try to redeem ourselves and enter the “Before and After” window box contest.

The Plan: Remove, wash off the cobwebs, paint and replant with Proven Winners flowers in time to be a contender in the “Before and After” 2012 Window Box Contest. I’ll be asking our friend Kerry Meyer at Proven Winners to help with an amazing recipe of new hybrid flowers.

Watch for updates!

“Winter Solstice”

I purchased my Del Mar Decora window box w/ Bronze Galvanized Liner from Hooks and Lattice. It is 3 ft. long and 5 ” deep. I have verigated ivy draped like garland around the entire box. I have (2) ornamental cabbages, (4) magenta violetas, (3) stone cap evergreens.and a single 20″ tall English ivy topiary. So, I have my thrill, (topiary), my fill, (cabbages and violetas, and my spill (stone caps). This is my Winter window box. I have really enjoyed putting this together. Love my flowers!
